Buddhist and Liberal Views on Persons (Full)
Here’s the full text of my MA dissertation which I wrote during the summer 2011 whilst at Durham University. It’s about whether Buddhist and liberal approaches to ethics can be reconciled, or whether they are pulling in different directions. I discuss a number of ways they could be reconciled in some theoretical detail, before finally concluding that the task is probably futile given the practical differences of each world-view.
It’s quite long (15,000 words!) and just a little bit academic (lots of philosophical jargon like ‘soteriological’ or explanadum’). But if that puts you off, I’ve posted a very short breakdown of its main points here.
